Meetup.com has followed what the other big social medial websites already adopted in terms of creating more user/search engine friendly URL, so our old meet up URL is:

http//seo.meetup.com/124/

The new one is:

http://www.meetup.com...

They have done SEO 101 redirection from the old to the new website through 301 permanent redirection (the best type of redirection when you want to tell search engine about permanently moved document to a new URL)

Of you want to practice some SEO, make search on the top three search engine for the term"Toronto seo meetup", you will see that Google and MSN have already included the new URL in there results while Yahoo still using the old one.
